Their movies always span the whole range of emotions, from happiness to sadness, to everything in-between. They're Pixar! They do such a fantastic job of appealing to young audiences as well as adults. The developers of the game, Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanova noted, "We definitely had some surreal moments while working with them. Merida & her father King Fergus are the only playable characters in the game. The game was released on June 14, 2012, a week before the movie was released. Merida appeared as the main character in the " endless running" video game, Temple Run: Brave, a spinoff of the game Temple Run. Main article: Brave (2012 film) § Plot Video games In the final scene, Merida is seen wearing a dark blue gown with light green patterns. Merida's bow is slung onto her back, over her shoulder, with arrows in a brown leather quiver around her waist. She also appears in scenes wearing a navy/black cape with a gold buckle. When the Lords arrive for the games, she is dressed in a Medieval-style turquoise silk gown with long arms, gold trimmings, and gold beading, teamed with a white wimple and crown to hold in her hair. Her main outfit is a dark teal-emerald green traditional gown, made of wool, with stylish slits for movement during archery. Merida has long, wild, curly, red hair, blue eyes, pale skin and a slender body. Two of the songs in the movie, "Touch the Sky" and "Into The Open Air", were sung by Julie Fowlis, as Merida's off-screen musical thoughts. Macdonald was hired to replace Reese Witherspoon, the actress originally cast in the role. Merida is voiced by actress Kelly Macdonald. The clan leaders of Macintosh, MacGuffin and Dingwall became their feudal lordships of the kingdom Fergus was crowned their king and Elinor their queen. The clans succeeded in protecting their lands from the invaders and formed the Kingdom of DunBroch. When Roman soldiers and Northern invaders threatened them from the seas, the four clans joined together under the sword of Fergus to defend their lands. The DunBroch, MacGuffin, Macintosh, and Dingwall clans were once enemies locked in constant war. She is pampered but in no way spoiled, and even though she frequently argues with her mother, Merida does love her parents. Despite her outgoing, forceful personality, Merida does have a softness of heart, particularly when it comes to her younger triplet brothers, Harris, Hubert and Hamish. She is also incredibly skilled in spears, sword-fighting and racing across the countryside on Angus, her Clydesdale horse. Merida has greatly perfected her skill in archery and is one of the most skilled archers in the kingdom. Queen Elinor's traditional expectations that Merida takes a husband and become a proper royal lady come into conflict with the single-minded and impetuous Merida's insistence that she controls her own destiny. Princess Merida is aged 16 daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor, who rule their Scottish kingdom. The people of Scotland have to accept Merida." Origins and concept Merida is certainly no damsel in distress and isn't haughty she is torn between doing what's expected of her and following her heart. She is a good role model for girls who want to get out there and do it. Overall Merida has received good reports from critics, some saying she is "a breath of fresh air among the princesses, and from a culture Disney has not yet explored. The brainchild of original director, Brenda Chapman, Merida is Pixar's first female lead. Merida is also the only Scottish member of the Disney Princess line-up and the first to be single. Merida was added to the Disney Princess line-up as the eleventh member, on May 11, 2013, becoming the first Disney Princess to be created by Pixar. She is voiced by Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald. Merida is the main protagonist of the 2012 Disney/ Pixar film Brave (2012). Princes Harris, Hubert and Hamish (younger brothers) ( Disney Infinity 3.0, Sofia the First, Lego The Incredibles)

Because of their high density, caesium chloride solutions are commonly used in molecular biology for density gradient ultracentrifugation, primarily for the isolation of viral particles, subcellular organelles and fractions, and nucleic acids from biological samples.Caesium vapor is used in many common magnetometers.Caesium fluoride is widely used in organic chemistry as a base and as a source of anhydrous fluoride ion.Radioactive isotopes of caesium are used in the medical field to treat certain types of cancer.Caesium is used as a catalyst in the hydrogenation of certain organic compounds.Caesium use as a propellant was discontinued when Hughes Research Laboratory conducted a study finding Xenon gas as a suitable replacement. It used a method of ionization to strip the outer electron from the propellant by simple contact with tungsten. Caesium was used as a propellant in early ion engines. This metal is also used in photoelectric cells due to its ready emission of electrons.Like other elements of group 1, caesium has a great affinity for oxygen and is used as a "getter" in vacuum tubes.135Cs has also been used in this function. This isotope is used because, while it is less prevalent than either 133Cs or 137Cs, 134Cs can be produced solely by nuclear reactions. 134Cs has been used in hydrology as a measure of caesium output by the nuclear power industry.SI defines the second as 9,192,631,770 cycles of the radiation which corresponds to the transition between two hyperfine energy levels of the ground state of the 133Cs atom. Since 1967, the International System of Measurements bases its unit of time, the second, on the properties of caesium. Ĭaesium is also notably used in atomic clocks, which are accurate to seconds in many thousands of years. The high density of the caesium formate brine (up to 2.3 sg), coupled with the relative benignity of 133Cs, reduces the requirement for toxic high-density suspended solids in the drilling fluid, which is a significant technological, engineering and environmental advantage. Probably the most widespread use of caesium today is in caesium formate-based drilling fluids for the oil industry. It is possible that, after the salt Cs +F − has formed, the Cs + ion, which has the same electronic structure as elemental xenon, can, like xenon, be oxidised further by fluorine and form traces of a higher fluoride such as CsF 3, analogous to XeF 2. There is an account that caesium, reacting with fluorine, takes up more fluorine than it stoichiometrically should. CsOH is often stated to be the "strongest base", but in fact many compounds such as n-butyllithium and sodium amide are stronger. Caesium reacts explosively in cold water and also reacts with ice at temperatures above −116 ☌ (−177 ☏, 157 K).Ĭaesium hydroxide (CsOH) is a very strong base and will rapidly etch the surface of glass. (Technically, francium is the least common alkali metal, but since it is highly radioactive with an estimated 30 grams in the entire Earth's crust at one time, its abundance can be considered zero in practical terms.)Īlong with gallium, francium, and mercury, caesium is among the only metals that are liquid at or near room temperature. Caesium is the least abundant of the five non-radioactive alkali metals. Caesium is the second most electropositive and alkaline of the chemical elements and has the second lowest ionization potential (after francium). This metal is silvery gold in color and is both soft and ductile. The emission spectrum of caesium has two bright lines in the blue part of the spectrum along with several other lines in the red, yellow, and green. The variant spelling cesium is used especially in North American English, and the IUPAC has recognized it as a variant spelling since 1993, but caesium is the spelling used by the IUPAC. This element is most notably used in atomic clocks. It is a soft silvery-gold alkali metal with a melting point of 28 ☌ (83 ☏), which makes it one of the metals that are liquid at or near room temperature, along with rubidium ( 39 ☌ ), francium ( 27 ☌ ), mercury ( −39 ☌ ), and gallium ( 30 ☌ ). Caesium or cesium ( pronounced /ˈsiːziəm/) is the chemical element with the symbol Cs and atomic number 55. Sound nice, consider the park and fly package. Running your flow with Tableau Prep When you run your flow and generate your output for analysis, you are in Run Mode and Tableau Prep runs your flow against the entire data set. Pausing data updates allows you to quickly make changes to your flow before generating your results. When you choose to pause data updates, you are in Metadata Mode. In these scenarios, Tableau Prep allows you to pause data updates. There are times when you just need to go in an add a quick cleaning operation or input data transformations in bulk. What happens when you pause updates? Sometimes when you are building a flow in Tableau Prep, you may not need direct, live updates. Depending on where you are in the flow, and what data is necessary to deliver a performant, visual, and interactive experience, Tableau Prep may cache your Input, Union, or Join steps, among others. Tableau Prep is equipped with a special algorithm that decides which step is best to cache. Editing a flow If you go back and edit a pre-built flow, caching will depend on which step you open and begin to explore. Your data is cached again throughout the flow when you add computationally expensive steps like Join steps or Union steps. If you choose to sample, remove columns, or change a data type, these changes will affect the result. (Tableau Prep doesn't query the source tables after the Input step when you’re in Interactive Mode.) What is cached will be based on how you configure your Input step. When you clean or reshape your data after the Input step, the changes are applied to the data in our cache. We create this cache so that you can validate your changes as they're happening without slowing down the underlying database or your machine. In the Input step, Tableau Prep queries the input tables from the source database or files, ingesting data into a Hyper extract which serves as the cache used as you continue to build your flow. Building a flow from scratch Tableau Prep will always cache the results from your Input step. Tableau Prep does not cache everything, however, and the experience differs if it is your first time building a flow from scratch, versus coming back to edit an existing flow already built by a colleague. Tableau Prep instead caches your data as Hyper extracts in our high performance, in-memory data engine. How Tableau Prep caches data When you connect to a data source in Tableau Prep, you will notice that you don’t have the option to select between a live or extract connection like in Tableau Desktop. You can use the default sample amount or build a sample set by specifying a fixed number of rows. Sampling ensures responsiveness to keep you in the flow of your task, even when you are working with large amounts of data in Tableau Prep. At times, Tableau Prep may also sample your data. For example, if you join two tables together in a Join step, you will see the final join result-down to the number of rows-immediately. Interactive Mode delivers direct, interactive feedback as you clean, combine, and reshape your data. Building your flow with Tableau Prep When you are cleaning your data in any of the available step types (Clean, Union, Join, etc.), you are in what we call Interactive Mode in Tableau Prep. In this post, we'll get into the details of what is happening behind the scenes in Tableau Prep, so that you can navigate building and running flows with confidence. Tableau Prep is equipped with three modes that work to make your flows as optimized and performant as possible, without bogging down your machine or underlying database. The Tableau Community is made up of smart, curious, data rock stars and we often get questions like, “Is Tableau Prep making a live connection to my data?” While that’s a relatively straightforward question to answer when we’re talking about Tableau Desktop, things work a little bit differently in Tableau Prep. Tableau Prep shifts this paradigm by bringing self-service data preparation to everyone, rather than just those with specialized skills. The Harvard Business Review even found that many analysts spend 80% of their time preparing their data, spending only 20% of time for analysis. From working with customers over the years, we hear, anecdotally, that cleaning data for analysis is a cumbersome process. In our role as solution engineers at Tableau, we get hands-on with customers every day, and get to see how companies - big and small - use Tableau Prep to clean and prepare their data. How do you make gluten free orange chicken sauce? You probably already have it in your kitchen. Which of course, you want that mouthwatering sauce! The breading on the gluten free orange chicken also helps the chicken to hold on to more of the sweet, tangy orange citrus sauce. That is a simple solution, but I really like the extra chew and crispness that you get with breaded gluten free orange chicken. I’ve seen some gluten free orange chicken recipes that are prepared low carb style, just made without any breading. (BTW, if you are looking for a Gluten-Free General Tso recipe, Jessica from Bless Her Heart Y'all has a baked recipe that looks delicious.) The recipes that are breaded, like orange chicken, are not so always so simple to convert to gluten free. Not all Asian recipes are so easy to make gluten free. (Which is what I do in my gluten free Korean ground turkey and rice bowl.) Often all you need to do is substitute the regular soy sauce for a gluten free tamari soy sauce or coconut aminos. It is fairly easy to convert many Chinese take-out recipes to be gluten free. Whether it is General Tso’s Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Chicken Peanut Satay with noodles, egg drop soup, gluten free stir fry, sticky garlic noodles, or my personal fave. Serve this delicious mandarin orange chicken atop some standard white rice and garnish with chopped green onion and chopped peanuts.I think that we all have our favorite Chinese take-out. You can do this step in a wok on high heat if you have it, which will really help caramelize the sauce to the chicken. Give everything a toss so each piece of chicken is coated. In a large bowl add all the fried chicken pieces and pour over the mandarin orange sauce. It may seem like a lot of salt in this recipe, but remember there were no seasonings in the flour mix. I also like to add a couple teaspoons of oyster sauce to give it a bit of funk, but that is totally up to you. In a pan on medium high heat add a cup of mandarin orange juice, a tablespoon of dark soy sauce, a tablespoon of light soy sauce, a tablespoon of sugar, two teaspoons of rice wine vinegar, and some red chili flakes (optional) to taste. The sauce can be started before you fry the chicken as it needs time to reduce. Remove the pieces and set them on a paper towel to drain. Finally carefully drop it into the hot oil and let deep fry until golden brown. Take the chicken piece and dip it in the flour mixture, then into the egg, then back into the flour mixture. To start, heat up a pan or pot of vegetable oil. The potato starch is important because it gives that signature crunch and texture to orange chicken. Chopped up chicken breasts (3), a couple beaten eggs, and a 1:1 mixture of flour to potato starch. The main ingredients for this recipe are quite simple. How To Make Chinese Takeaway Style Mandarin Orange Chicken At Home Even while living in China I’d still look up copycat Panda Express recipes to make at home when the cravings hit. So, why not make a classic American-Chinese takeout staple, Orange Chicken, with Mandarin oranges? Yes, I said American-Chinese, because orange chicken is about as authentically Chinese as crab rangoons! However, this recipe for some tasty and delicious Mandarin orange chicken will be sure to hit your takeaway cravings.Īlthough I have some real Chinese recipes on this site like chinese walnut chicken and chinese fried garlic pork string beans (干煸四季豆 ) (after all, I did live in Beijing for 4 years), I never really liked mainland cuisine apart from a dozen or so dishes. If you’re like me (and most of the world) you think Mandarin oranges are far better than regular oranges. On April 1, it applies to all new policyholders with properties in a flood zone. But for everyone else, the mandate will roll out over the next four years. The policy doesn’t affect Citizens policyholders who aren’t insured for wind coverage, about 300,000 customers statewide. During Hurricane Ian, only 18% of homes in evacuation zones had flood insurance, and some estimates suggest that up to half the damage from the storm could be uninsured flood damage.Įven now, Florida leads the nation in flood insurance policies with 1.7 million in force, and if all 1.2 million affected Citizens policyholders sign up, it could nearly double the state’s flood insurance footprint. There is no doubt that many Floridians, even in coastal counties, are already vulnerable to catastrophic flooding losses. Or, as some critics point out, the extra cost could be enough to push more homeowners out of the insurance market altogether, leaving them uncovered and unprepared for the stronger, wetter hurricanes scientists are predicting. The new policy could go a long way toward addressing Florida’s massive gap in flood insurance, but it will also drive up costs for many homeowners already facing spiraling insurance bills. There have been pie-in-the-sky calls for mandatory flood insurance for anyone who owns a home, so it’s a really big deal for a state that currently does represent a large amount of the policies under the flood insurance program, which is a big indicator of risk.” “I haven’t seen a sweeping requirement like this anywhere else,” said Laura Lightbody, project director of the flood-prepared communities program at The Pew Charitable Trusts. And there could be plenty of those as private wind insurance costs continue to skyrocket and more companies go belly up, leaving Citizens the best option. It also will apply to any new Citizens customers, with some of them impacted as early as April 1. At minimum, that’s likely to add hundreds of dollars a year to the insurance bill.Īs the mandate is phased in over the next few years, it could affect 1.2 million current Citizens policy holders, who will be required to get flood insurance no matter where they live or see their coverage canceled. The provision, included in a sweeping insurance bill passed late last year, will make flood insurance mandatory for any homeowners with hurricane wind policies from Citizens Insurance, the state-run insurer of last resort. It will force them to also buy flood insurance - even if their homes aren’t in designated flood zones. We are there when you need us, and we think that is the measure of the right relationship.A little-noticed line in the Florida Legislature’s latest attempt to fix the state’s fractured home insurance market promises to have big impacts on more than a million Floridians.
